Racine Armenian Drum and Bugle
Corps, also known as the
Armenian Youth Federation or the
AYF Drum and Bugle Corps.
ABOVE PHOTO: This is a photo of the newly organized
Armenian Drum and Bugle Corps of Racine taken in front of
Memorial Hall in Racine in 1937. The corps was organized in
1937 by the Racine Armen Garo Chapter of Tszgagrone
(Armenian Youth) and was the only Drum Corps of its kind that
ever existed in the United States. They went inactive just a few
years later. The drum corps was reorganized and became
active again in 1951. They made their first public appearance
in Racine's 1951 Fourth of July parade. During the middle
1950's the Armenian Youth Federation drum and bugle corps
not only appeared in local area events such as Racine's
Fourth of July parade and local Armenian events, they also
appeared nationwide in parades at Armenian events. The
drum corps was disbanded for good in the mid 1950s.

Youth Federation) are represented here in this Racine Journal
Times photo taken in August of 1952 at the Boys of 76 ice
cream social.
