BELOW:  The Boys of 76 shown in this 1948 photo
wearing their blue parade uniforms.  Also, they used the
nickname the "Chrome Domes" long before the Racine
Explorer Scouts adopted that name in the mid-1960's
BELOW:  Recaps from the 1940 American Legion State Competition at Kenosha, Wis.  This
convention was held from August 10th through the 13th.  The three SAL junior drum and bugle
corps competed at 7:45 PM on Sunday night, 8-11-1940, at Lake Front Stadium in Kenosha
while the three American Legion senior drum and bugle corps competed at 7:45 PM on Monday
night, 8-12-1940, at Lake Front Stadium in Kenosha.  Judges for this contest were:  Carl W.
Hoffman, Drill Judge;  H. W. Schaefer, Timing Judge;  C. L. Mason, Cadence Judge; N. E. Smith,
Inspection Judge, Sgt. Poinie, Bugle Judge, Suysen, Drum Judge, H. Panders, G. E. Judge and
the tabulator was H. W. Miller.  There was $1,700 total in prize money given out to these six drum
corps at this contest.

ABOVE & BELOW:  Both of these wonderful photos of the Racine Boys of 76 drum and bugle corps were taken in Racine's
4th of July parade in 1947.  The buildings are on the East side of Monument Square in downtown Racine, or, in other words,
on the east side of Main Street between 5th and 6th Streets.  Both photos were provided to me by Harald Kahlert who is the
bass drummer to the right of the cymbal crasher in the photo below.
